A list of suggested books for children
Story time is a wonderful opportunity to build connection between adult and child. Sharing stories, books, and songs all help to build healthy early relationships and strengthen language and literacy skills. Books can also be a wonderful resource for helping children understand and work through their emotions and new or difficult situations. When children read books about people who are different than them, they learn empathy, which in turn leads to healthier relationships over their lifetime. This list of books was compiled and recommended by the Board of Directors. We hope you see some of your favorites and discover new ones. Some titles are out of print, but not out of style! They are listed at the bottom of the page and are definitely worth a trip to your local used bookstore or library.
